Why 5 Minutes?

Why 5 minutes? Listen to this sound bite from Something about Mary then come right back. I'll wait. 🙂

Yeah, but why 5 minutes? It really has nothing to do with 5 Minute Fitness, but that sound bite demonstrates that people want results (physical, financial, relationship-wise etc) faster. Better results, less time...less effort, right now! In the movie, Ben Stiller asks what happens if someone invents 6 minute abs. Aren't there already machines people are proclaiming can give you abs in just 3 minutes per day? Read the fine print. They also say a balanced diet and regular exercise are necessary. (I really hope nobody genuinely believes solely twisting their body from side to side for a few minutes a day will give them the body of their dreams.)

Until someone in a lab somewhere invents a pill or potion that will liposuck our stomachs and thighs while we sleep (with no side effects, of course), we need to eat right and move our bodies.

"Oh, but it's easy for you to say. I just don't have tiiiiime!" The teenager, the parent, the CEO, the athlete, the artist, the doctor, the barmaid, the rocket scientist, the millionaire and the guy on welfare all have the same amount of time in the day. They can all find five, ten or 15 minutes if they needed to - if they made it a priority.

So, you make it your priority and I will help to make it work for you. Why 5 minutes? I'm not promising you the body of your dreams in 5 minutes per day. You shouldn't believe me, if I was! I'm saying you just have to start somewhere, and if 5 minutes is truly all the time you have spare to exercise, then let's utilise it in the best way possible.

Keep in mind, your health and fitness is determined by a lot more than just exercising. The combination of eating well, getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, scheduling 'down time' and exercising are just some of the parts of the puzzle that fits together to become your lifestyle.

Make the commitment to yourself to put on some comfy clothes, grab some water, warm up your body, then do at least 5 minutes of exercise without stopping. Then do it again tomorrow.

5 Minute Fitness is going to help get you started on the exercise front. Along the way, we'll give you advice, hints and tips on how to integrate the pieces of the puzzle in a way that creates the best lifestyle outcome for you. Here's the key, though; it takes work and commitment.

So get started!
